For the first time on the podcast, it’s just the ladies this week, and we have a special guest, Kate! Kate is a Disney Cast Member who works in Hollywood Studios, and is a personal friend of our very own Jules. Kate was part of the Disney College program at Disneyland and did a second program at Walt Disney World. She has since had multiple roles in the company including the Grand Floridian resort, ticketing, group reservations, and ride operations.
Kate is full of energy and shows exactly what it is that we love so much about Cast Members. Her favorite memories include interacting with guests and helping to make magic moments for them. Listen to the full episode and see if you don’t love Kate as much as we do by the end!
Rope Drop
Our Rope Drop Question this week was “What is your favorite restaurant in Hollywood Studios?” We had a good variety between us, and no surprise here – Joy chose a sit down restaurant!
Roxann’s choice is Docking Bay 7 in Galaxy’s Edge. This is the newest quick service restaurant in Hollywood Studios and has the most diverse and interesting menu. Her favorite entree is the Batuuan Beef Pot Roast, but will also order the Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip , or the kid’s plant based Peka Pasta Rings. They also have some good breakfast options, like the Bright Suns Breakfast Platter, which features the same sausage you can find in the Ronto Wrap.
Jules’ choice is Fairfax Fare, a Mexican/Southwestern stand in the Sunset Boulevard area. Her favorite thing to order is the tamales, which look fantastic but may not always be on the menu.
Joy’s favorite place to dine in Hollywood Studios is Mama Melrose, in the Grand Avenue area. Her family really likes the Charred Strip Steak, with four cheese macaroni with pancetta, balsamic-shallot butter, and a wine reduction. They try to go at lunch time and do the Fantasmic! package which gives you priority seating at that evening’s show.
Kate’s favorite quick meal is the Totchos from Woody’s Lunchbox in Toy Story Land. These are tater tots that have been smothered with chili and cheese.
Just For Fun!
What if you only had one hour to spend in Hollywood Studios? What attractions would you do, what would you eat, and what show would you see?
Jules would start with an iced coffee from the Trolley Car Cafe, while checking the My Disney Experience phone app to plan her time. After making quick use of the single rider line on Rock n Roller Coaster (just don’t tell her that it actually does go upside down – multiple times!) she would sing her heart out at For the First Time In Forever: Frozen Sing Along, get a carrot cake cookie, check out some of the “streetmosphere” on Sunset Boulevard, and then dance her way out of the park!
Kate would prefer to go to the park at Christmas time to see the fantastic retro design decorations. She would ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, sing loudly at the Frozen Sing Along, hit up Baseline Tap House for an adult beverage or two, then get her favorite Totchos from Woody’s Lunchbox, before seeing what high score she can get on Toy Story Mania. Kate would end the night by watching Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!
Joy is going to try to cram about 3 hours worth of activities into her allotted hour! She would start by taking a spin on Slinky Dog Dash, while saying hi to her new friend, Kate. Then Joy would finally get to try Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and grab a fun pic with Olaf (and probably give him a warm hug as well), before hitting up the margarita stand. She’ll be ready to sing her heart out with the Frozen Sing Along after that, and end the evening sitting down while watching Fantasmic!.
Roxann, as we know, goes to the park often but doesn’t ride the thrill rides. She would have a very chill hour in the park while riding Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, watching Muppet Vision 3D, the new Mickey Shorts film, and snacking on a Ronto Wrap in Galaxy’s Edge. We also know she will spend part of that hour taking pictures from all around the park!
